We are excited for another season of Redwing Hockey. Our program continues to grow in participants, talent and recognition as an elite hockey club. Because of this, we have added an additional day of tryouts this year to ensure everyone gets the greatest opportunity to showcase their skills for assessment and possible team placement.
If you know your player will be playing somewhere besides Redwing Hockey this fall, please let us know ASAP so we can plan for that in our registration numbers.
Tryout Fee: $400
The tryout schedule will be broken up as follows:
(grade of player for 2019-20 school year)
** Groups for Days 3 and 4 will be announced after the second Day 2 skate. Individual players may be notified to attend different sessions
Additional notes for the upcoming season
Club fees are driven primarily by our ice costs (which increase every year) and by the number of skaters. We continue to strive to keep the most reasonable fees possible. The final fees will be determined once we know our total number of skaters. The range set below is our best estimate based on the number of returning and incoming players.
Once teams are announced, you will have 48 hours to inform the coaches and/or a board member that you wish to decline the roster spot or we will assume your participation and financial commitment to Redwing Hockey.
TRYOUT FEE: $400 *Payable online during registration and due prior to taking the ice on August 12th.
The registration fee is non-refundable for all skaters and goalies, including those players that choose not play for Redwing Hockey after team selections have been made. The tryout fee is separate and does not apply to the fall season fees.
ESTIMATED CLUB FEE: $5,000 - $5, 750 *Based on total players. Goalies will have a reduced rate. Does not include cost of required equipment and uniforms.
Each year we plan for all scenarios not knowing how many players we will have and the talent level of those players. A 3rd team is not added simply to cover the # of players desiring to play. We’ve evaluated the turnout in Spring/Summer and are planning and budgeting for a 3rd team. Like every year, though, this is not final until tryouts are completed and/or commitments to play for Redwing Hockey are made. It is likely, as well, that there will be cuts made at tryouts. Our club plays in the CCHL with a Varsity & JV team in that league. A 3rd team would play in the Illinois High School Hockey League (IHSHL) / IHSHL West Division. This would be a Varsity level team.
REQUIRED FORMS AND COMPLIANCE
A Zero Tolerance form must be completed once team selections have been finalized. Any zero tolerance infraction will be reviewed by the Redwing Hockey Rules & Ethics Committee and may include additional fines or suspensions on top of any levied by the league. While not requiring a sports physical form, the Club does encourage each player to have an annual physical.
UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT
Incoming Players will be required to purchase both a home and away jersey, team equipment bag and team warm-ups. We plan to have sample sizes available during tryouts. Expect details for new players’ equipment requirements to be given at the player/parent meeting which will be scheduled during Ignition Week. For those making purchases over the summer, helmets and pants/shell should be black and gloves need to fit into Redwing Hockey's black/red/white color scheme.
FUNDRAISING AND SPONSORSHIP
To combat the rising costs of ice and other expenses, we will be looking for volunteers to join a fundraising committee to work on raising funds to benefit the club and help keep player fees down. In addition, there will be several sponsorship opportunities for those with businesses or know of businesses that would like to sponsor Redwings Hockey. More details will be announced at the player/parent meeting which will be scheduled during Ignition Week.
Redwing Hockey is a volunteer organization. We encourage families to get involved to make this the best hockey experience for our players.
