Jon Grzbek
Skills Coach
Coach Grzbek was the Benet Hockey Director from 2009 – 2024. He remains with the club as a skills coach for both Varsity and JV. Coach Jon played for the Huskies before attending Marist Catholic High School, where he was team captain. . Jon played for DePaul University and competed for a national championship, finishing 3rd. Jon coached multiple youth hockey organizations, including 10+ years for the Chicago Hawks where his sons both played. At the high school level, Jon has coached one Blackhawk Scholarship winner, multiple All-State and High School All-Stars, and dozens of Showcase invitees. His teams have won multiple tournaments and league Championships, including 4 Kennedy Cups! From 2013 through 2021, Jon coached the boys' Chicago Showcase team. In addition, Jon has worked with USA Hockey’s “Hockey is for Everyone” diversity program. Jon is also active in hockey-related charities and serves as a board member of ICE-InnerCityEducation. Jon was elected to the Illinois Hockey Hall of Fame in 2021 A 20+ year sales executive, he resides in Downers Grove with his wife Karen and his sons, AJ and Ryan.
